Whether you’re new to anal play or just cleaning up, it’s important to use clean tools. Anal toys can harbor bacteria that lead to UTI’s, GI issues and yeast infections if not cleaned properly.

Luckily, non-porous materials like silicone are pretty easy to clean. You can boil them for a quick sanitization, or wash them with warm water and soap. If you’re a fan of porous anal plugs like glass or steel, we suggest using condoms before inserting them to avoid transferring germs.
Other non-porous materials, like thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), are harder to clean. These types of sex toys can leach unknown plasticizers over time, and they have larger pore sizes than silicone, which means that bacteria and fungus can grow much more quickly on them.
You can still sanitize TPE strokers with boiling water, but we’d recommend sticking with the dishwasher or using a sex toy cleaner instead.
