The anus is a sensitive organ. It can be very painful to insert anything – fingers, toys, dildos or dicks – into it without proper preparation.
Pornstars know this. That’s why they take a lot of prep steps, especially before an anal scene. Here are their tips: 1. Stretching.
1. Stretching
While porn stars have a lot on their plates, such as maintaining relationships with fans, finding equipment and arranging collaborations, they also have a little extra work to do for anal scenes. In the most recent episode of WoodRocket’s Youtube series ‘Ask A Porn Star,’ a few of our favorite ladies spill their anal prep secrets.
First and foremost, it’s important for them to stretch out the anus before filming. They might do this by inserting a penis or even their fingers. This helps them get accustomed to the feeling and makes them feel like they are a little more lubricated for anal penetration.
It’s also necessary for them to clean the anus to keep it healthy and free from infection. The anus can’t self-lubricate, so a good amount of anal lube is required. Our favorite stars mention using products such as Pjur’s Back Door Anal Lube and Bad Dragon’s Cum Lube.
It’s not easy to take it up the anal and make it look as smooth as possible on camera. It takes a lot of preparation through stretching, cleaning and plenty of lube. If you’re interested in trying anal, the pros recommend starting small and working your way up to the big poundings we see on screen. And if you do happen to run into trouble, remember that you’re not alone and don’t be afraid to talk about it with your partner, or take a break.
2. Cleansing
A big part of anal play is cleaning. That means more than just splashing soapy water down the crack in the shower or wiping a bit of lubricant on the anal. For many, especially beginners, anal can be a painful place to be, so you want to make sure your anus and the sphincter are clean and ready for anything.
Some pornstars go to extreme lengths to get their assholes ready for anal. For example, lifestyle dome and kink practitioner Madam Carmen advises to add gloves — made of medical grade latex or nitrile — lubricant, a small vibrator, pH-friendly genital or body wipes, and a variety of anal toys and accessories to your cleaning kit.
She also says that while numbing agents may help with the initial pain, they’re not necessary. “I believe you should have some sort of feeling, or you are doing something wrong,” she says.
The other thing to keep in mind is that anal can be messy, especially for beginners. “If you’re not used to it, there will probably be some sort of shiz up there,” says Kimber Haven. “That is why it’s good to have a lot of wipes.”
3. Lube
The final step in anal prep is to lube the hell up. Pornstars use all sorts of anal lube, from a simple silicone-based lube like Wicked Sensual’s Jelle or Ultra to special formulas for sensation play and extra sexy lube designed to increase anal penetration. Anal lube is especially important because anal penetration can cause irritation and pain, so it’s a good idea to have plenty on hand for the shoot.
Some pornstars take anal preparation to the extreme – for example, some anal specialists like Sabrina Deep don’t eat anything past a certain hour the day of a shoot. But most people can’t do that, and even if you could, it wouldn’t be practical because anal scenes often start early in the day and continue for hours.
Still, the point is that you want your asshole to be able to accomodate anal and feel comfortable with it, so anal preparation is more than stretching and cleaning, it’s also mental. You need to be prepared to deal with the potential pain and mess that comes with anal, and that requires a strong mindset. Anal isn’t as easy as some porn stars make it look, but it can be really pleasurable if you’re mentally ready to do it right. That’s why it’s so important to have the right amount of preparation through stretching, cleaning and lots of anal lube.
4. Getting in there
As much as pornstars love taking it up the ass, they also realize that it’s not easy. The asshole is a tough place to penetrate and if you don’t feel mentally safe or prepared, it can be painful. This is why communication and consent are vital. If your partner has a strong aversion to anal or you’re feeling uncomfortable, it’s OK to stop.
When you do start to have anal sex, it’s important to have plenty of lube on hand. It’s not uncommon for anal stars to use a special lube specifically for anal sex or a thicker silicone anal lube that reduces friction. Skylar Snow recommends trying out a few different types of lube before finding what works best for you.
While anal sex isn’t as common as oral or vaginal sex, it does pay well for many pornstars and it’s something they’re all willing to take on if the scene calls for it. Some even go to extremes like not eating anything for a certain amount of time the day before an anal shoot.
The anus isn’t the cleanest part of the body and it’s not uncommon for pornstars to have to pause during a shoot to wipe themselves. It’s all part of the job and it’s something that gets easier with practice. Just remember to keep lots of lube on hand and communicate with your partner during and after to make the experience enjoyable for both of you.
